The fast-paced mystery novel involves intrigue and murder. Eighty-two year old Henrik Vanger receives a flower every year on his birthday, a forty-year old tradition. Vanger, head of the family dynasty, summons publisher, Mikael Blomkvist, and computer genius, Lisbeth Salander to solve the mystery.

Great story, excellently written with colorful, personable characters. Recommended.

The second book in Stieg Larsson’s crime novel trilogy continues the story of Lisbeth Salander, computer genius, and Mikael Blomkvist, writer, editor and publisher of Millennium magazine.
The story centers on Lisbeth Salander, her troubled past and the possibility of her involvement in a triple homicide. Blomkvist, disbelieving reports that Salander committed the triple murders sets out to prove her innocence.
Plots and sub-plots bloom in Larsson’s edgy, complicated murder mystery, with complex characters and relationships.

Review:
The third and final book in Stieg Larsson’s crime novel trilogy begins where the second book “The Girl Who Played with Fire,” ends. Lisbeth Salander, shot by her abusive father who thrives in the criminal underworld, arrives at Sahlgrenska Hospital. Mikael Blomkvist requested the life flight helicopter after finding Lisbeth.
Blomkvist and Salander navigate the deep waters of criminals and politics in this red-hot thriller. Laden with corrupt officials, the criminal justice system and child welfare come under scrutiny. Stieg Larsson, a most gifted writer finished the triology in a reasonable and pleasant conclusion.
The trilogy of novels was published after his death.
