Review:

The sensitive story portrays the family dynamics between two pre-teen sisters, their mother and her newly acquired boyfriend.  The move from Atlanta to New York requires a great deal of adjustment for the girls who are already balancing the idea of a stepfather in their lives.  The girls, very different in personality, react to their new situations including school and social settings, in different ways.  When tragedy confronts them, the sisters begin to realize what is truly valuable in their lives.

Karin Cook presents a well-written, realistic story with an absence of pseudo-drama.  This exceptional tale, intelligent and sensitive encompasses adolescence, first love, acceptance, and the reality of loss in life.
