Review:

Based on personal beliefs, and events from Glenn Beck’s life, “The Christmas Story,” imparts a series of lessons.  The fictional story revolves around twelve-year old Eddie, whose focus in life revolves around his desired Christmas gift.

Eddie’s father died when he was nine years old.  Eddie lives with his mother and is close to his grandparents.  After the unexpected death of his father and the subsequent loss of their bakery shop, money becomes very tight.  His mother works hard long hours, but money is scarce.

Eddie, now twelve, expects a bicycle, red with a black seat.  Eddie and his mother plan to spend Christmas’s with his grandparents.  On Christmas morning, Eddie does not receive the gift he longs for and is dismally disappointed when he receives a sweater his mother knitted for him instead.

In lieu of his behavior, Eddie will face an unexpected journey and learn the values of love and life.

Glenn Beck was thirteen years old when he lost his mother.  Warm, and expressive, “The Christmas Sweater” relates the themes of appreciation, forgiveness and redemption.
