The fast moving story is set during WW II, of a lonely, Venetian fisherman who struggles with guilt over a death in the family and copes with difficult family members.  His life changes drastically when one night, he discovers a young woman aboard his fishing boat.  The young woman, whose parents were captured by the Germans, finds unexpected refuge in Venice. 

Colorful and entertaining with interesting characters, the novel moves from a mystery to a detective thriller, with the added edge of love and romance.
