THE BOOK FAIR

The author provides a history of European political affairs before delving into the disaster of the Lusitania.  The book offers much detail involving the lives of the many persons aboard the ship.   Much attention is given to dress, diet, habits, and carefree time, particularly of the upper-class citizens.

In relating the narrative, Larson affords the German U-boat commander the same attention as the commander of the Lusitania informing the reader of their histories.

The story builds steadily and is relayed without gratuitous violence.
