Two grafters, Romeo and Shaw, drive south into North Carolina along the Blue Ridge Mountains, thrilled to be out of Dayton, Ohio and their boring jobs. In matter of hours, they plan to board a boat to Trinidad from Key West, Florida.
Tara Boatwright attends the local community college hoping one day to escape her dysfunctional home. Her mother, Pasty, cannot control her addiction to alcohol or the lottery. Mitch Boatwright, active in his church tries to set an example for his kids and works hard to support his family.
Shaw and Romeo stop at a gas station and learn about a winning lottery ticket worth, $318,000,000.00. Once at the motel, Shaw surfs the net determined to find out who won the lottery. Then, he finds what he’s searching for: the family’s home address. Shaw and Romeo put a new plan into action.
The author draws life-like figures with clear and distinct characters. The novel, a page-turner, unfolds on the seamy side with no lack of gratuitous vulgarity.
George Dawes Green published the psychological thriller, “The Juror”, in 1994, which was made into a film.
